Jane Dough

Life is riding high and
I just can't deny
that everything is
changing so fast

Where are we to go
and why are we to be
and what is gonna
make this life last

And if you try to find
a reason in your mind
to just try to make
sense of it all

It's all that we can do
to get ourselves through
I know I've got to
answer the call

It's all that we
can do
to help each
other
through

So call me Jane Dough
I'll tell  you what I know
and it isn't really much
at all

Like it or not my brain
is holding on
as fear is rattling my skull

When you're feeling blind
just open your third eye
make it all up as you go

If you are like me
you're still feeling free
Go ahead and give me a call

It's all that we can do
to help each other through

My Father Slips Away

As my father slips away
his mind an edge
no longer

Dull as a butter knife
the days of his
output
his absolute brilliance
behind him

I lose moments
of my own
amidst this hustle
to care take

I keep going
from morning to morning
from night to night
my father
slips away
